Nice video, had a flashback to attending the bike show at Taipei World Trade Center back around my 3 years there (1990-93). I still have my 1986 steel frame Raleigh, but more often now when I take off around the neighborhood it's on a little hard nose/hard tail fat tire bike that I added toe clips to for more fun. (At 6'7" tall, 201 cm+ my Raleigh is a 27" frame size so, it looks a little funny next to bikes of the modern world- but now that I'm older I ride with my seat a bit lower, and less efficiency anyway)

Giant does make some very nice bikes.

Cannondale topping the charts without even the SuperSix Hi-Mod in the lineup. What's up with THAT?
-
#1 - They've added 250g to non-ISP bikes for a seatpost, so they can 'fairly' assess the weight (oh, and attach a saddle)... but, you can't attach a saddle to the top of that ISP Giant... where's your seat mast clamp Giant? It's weird you managed to remember to weight all the rear derailleur hangers, bottle cage bolts and derailleur guides... but you forgot your seatpost clamp... convenient, much?
#2 - They've included in the weight ratings the Giant TCR Advanced SL ISP only, but in the stiffness testing they included both the ISP and non-ISP versions plus the standard version!... why didn't they put the non-ISP version (and the standard version) in the weight rating? ...oh, and then penalise them both an arbitrary 250g for not having a (clamp-less) ISP?
#3 - I'm confused.... when you're talking about winning the torsional stiffness testing at 2:53, you're confident that "stiffer is ALWAYS better" then at 6:06 when you're showing that you hadn't won the bottom bracket stiffness you say you're "ok with that...(and that at) a certain point... it doesn't matter anymore"...
It's interesting you're so frustrated that you're overlooked in 'unfair' testing by competitors... so you put out your own 'propa' testing ;)
BTW - I've been riding a Giant for the past 7 years and still like it... but become that honest brand you espouse, and I'll feel proud of it too. -
despite compensating for non-isp bikes by adding 250 grams. you forgot to add the weight of the seat mast topper, which usually runs 180 grams. so an advanced actually weighs 180 grams more for the total weight.

I need a recommendation ....I'm going to be sprinting up steep hills in my neighborhood. So I don't want to have a frame that will fail...any thoughts?
-
Yeah, I just checked. A seatpost matching the quality of Cannondale's Supersix should weight 150 grams max.
-
Someone buying an expensive bike should be able to afford a lighter seatpost than 250g. Even my mountain bike seatpost would make the cannondale the lightest.
-
They only use different componentry
-
how do you know they have the same stiffness? where did you get that info from?
-
If the trek 6.9 and 6.5 have the same frame, why does it have different stiffness. Maybe bad testing....
-
do you have proofs that the data shown in this video are true?
-
Awkward how no. Also every fact goes against you, even specilised have admitted that the venge isnt as stiff as the SL4 so fudge up :)

Na Brah, I ride a Specialized !!! Much better brand... Much better bikes... Much better technology... Giant might test "Stiffer" but I can tell you this, they are not built with the correct amount of stiffness and flex in the right areas. Put me on a Giant and I will destroy that bike... On a Venge... I am fast and the bike is able to handle the power I can put down into it... A Giant just wouldn't be able to handle what I do. That is why I ride a Specialized. Brah.

Pinarello Dogma is not considering to be a normal bike... Pinarello's like Conlago's and Wilier's are not normal bikes... they are not massive production brands... thats why they make more expensive bikes... Also they never release any data for the bikes that they make... have you ever see a detailed report about a Colnago? no.. u will never see one..
