World's Stupidest Bikes Lanes -- Prague

2. Probably they wanted to keep the right hand turn for the cars because they already had the infrastructure in place for cars to make a right hand turn. Cars do still take priority over bikes. That's just the way it is. 
3. Thats not save cycling close to the car traffics.. The bike infrastructure in my country shits all over that! :)
4. @ReganSamyra How can you approve of that apparent bad cyclist infrastructure in Prague whn coming from Holland yourself, where the infrastructure is actually even better than here in Denmark? Are you one of the few Dutchmen not going by bike? LOL
5. @ReganSamyra Ehm, we have bike lanes on every street here in Denmark. And it works flawlessly. In Copenhagen 37% people commute to and from work every day by bike. And going about the city for other purposes it's as high as 55%. And it's like that in all of Denmark, not just Copenhagen. It's a question of proper bike infrastructure. nd the infrastructure in Prague doesn't look proper for bikes seen from a cyclists perspective judging from the video. So I agree with the video fully.
6. This really isn't that bad on the scale of things. I've seen many videos (mainly from the UK) of truly awful bike lanes. Frankly, this bike lane is better than nothing at all, something that can't be said about some other lanes around the world. They certainly could have made it wider, though. There is plenty of room.

8. @ReganSamyra The EU funded massive repairs on the roads with the requirement that bike lanes be added. More people would use them if they were safe and useful, which is what Grant is pointing out. Prague was built centuries before the car was invented - it's not some cookie-cutter American suburb built for overweight car slaves to ferry their kids to and from Wal-Mart. Cars do not fit or belong in the center of the city. End of story.
9. The city of Prague got a massive EU grant to fix up their excremental roads. One of the requirements of the grant was that they add bike lanes. Welcome to urban planning Prague style - make a half-assed attempt to conform to the letter of the law and pocket the millions. Jerks.
10. the bike lane is just to give the biker a break and have some space of his own, because everywhere else he has to follow the same rights as any other driver. so the bike lane wouldnt continue because the biker has to join a specific lane depending where he is turning! I agree that some of hte bike lanes are quite stupid but not because of this reason, but because if it wasnt there it'd make no difference really.
