XC Short Course - Sea Otter Classic
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
Every spring, thousands of athletes and spectators converge in central California for the Sea Otter Classic as the unofficial kickoff to a new cycling season. Specialized has a long history with the event, going all the way back to its start in 1991. Specialized Racing got off to a fast start in 2013 with the men's and women's XC Short Track, a high-speed race on a short, closed loop with dry, loose terrain. Bike selection, tire choice, proper setup, and a great start are the keys to success...along with good legs and a willingness to spend an hour in the "red zone". Shot on location at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterrey, California.

Whose idea was it to choose such a boring course for a XC race?
-
Some simulated logs, I mean barriers would be cool (and provide entertainment for crashes)

No i was doing cat 3 boy 13-14 race and they all passed me while they were doing their warm-up / fun laps.
-
should've used a Roubaix for this track ;)
-
you did the pro xct?
-
I got passed by Annika, Todd, Kohei, Christoph, and Yauroslov while I was doing my race.

The XC course at Sea Otter and the Olympics have really disappointed me . . . I hope trail-builders start to take hints from Super D events and incorporate more trail style obstacles.

I'm going to have to agree with what everyone else has said about both the STXC and the XC courses= lame. I understand trying to make them spectator friendly, but this is absolutely embarrassing...the US invented MTB and THIS is what it's come to? If they don't have the terrain/space to make a proper course...Sea Otter needs to move...and drop the term "classic." (there's nothing classic or classy about it)

That kind of tracks remind me the Rural Bike races here in Argentina.
