Yeti Switch Infinity: Bike Magazine Blueprint Series
bicycles reviews | bicycles videos | bicycles online
It's been just over three years since Yeti Cycles unveiled its 'Switch Technology' eccentric link suspension platform with the immensely popular SB-66 and subsequent SB (Super Bike) models, and now they're already introducing an altogether new system. We visited their headquarters in Golden, Colorado, to learn about the new design and create this Blueprint video to explain its intended benefits. We also were lucky enough to get our hands on one of the first production models of the new SB5c, and we had some glorious moments testing the bike on the trails around Golden, Colorado, and Laguna Beach, California. Here's the 'dual-tester' review: http://www.bikemag.com/gear/exclusive-yeti-launches-new-switch-infinity-suspension-platform/

They keep talking about small bump sensitivity. I want to see science. Are they saying the suspension is progressive? Because I can't see how you can have a pedaling plate form AND have small bump sensitivity. They're opposites that cannot happen at the same time.

Good,lord,that was a painful interview...

Dude, bro, (sluuurp), this is much better than it was before, for sure.
-
dont understand what the hell was said... your heavy bikes have complicated suspension platforms that keep changing and become obsolete... ill keep my tallboy

On the yeti website it says to lubricate the switch link parts every 40 miles.

Just wait till the bushings round the rails wear out, then you have one noisy nightmare.

I sold my Carbon Bronson for the SB5C!! big mistake:( . $2300 more for a bike that does not really feel all that amazing

Could be a marketing gimmick, not sure!

Bike Mag crew - I applaud your desire to go deeper and really understand and challenge the industry on why they invent the designs they come up with. However, in such a technical discussion, there must more than talking heads and a marketing slo-mo video of someone rides the bike. Maybe a diagram of sort (eh 'Blueprint'...?) that shows what are you guys talking about. When someone says that the old version moved 3 inches but the new one only a few millimeters, there's got to be some way to see this, otherwise its really unclear.

Kinda disappointing vid and lack of info.
This bike lacks the sexyness of the SB66 or the 303, looks too goofy with that big bulky box cutout. -
I learned absolutely nothing from this six minute chat. Maybe next time you should have a plan our at the very least an expectation your viewers should leave with.

Booooooring

My concern would be the amount of dirt caught up into this system. I know they cycle these systems through millions of testing cycles, but perhaps some sort of sealed cover over the frame is in order here. There must be something they like, cause the switch technology seems to be working, so to make the change is interesting.
