To add to the "stand up" discussion, I finally upgraded to a full suspension after 20 years on a rigid 26" (I KNOW, but it was so expensive when I bought it! I said I'll never need another MTB again!!). The extra low gears in my new bike are encouraging me to stay in the saddle when normally I'd have to get out to grind up a hill :-/. A couple of posters suggested single speed or something not geared so low (I'm saying this in general to people in the same situation, not necessarily to the riders in the video!) . Could be a good training idea...

There are two types of cyclists. One who had fallen of the bike and one that will fall of the bike. Peace, you expert!

Its obvious that you have a passion for the sport and its rare to find someone who volunteers like you do. Keep up the great work.

Great video Seth, keep them coming.

Seems that most of these comments are completely missing the point. It's not about the bike Seth's riding or what his protégé is doing right or wrong. The point is... Seth has an amazing talent for breaking things down into their basic parts and explaining what most of us all just take for granted when it comes to biking. As far as a MTB101 video series goes, I haven't seen a better one. I am many years into this sport and really would have appreciated the value in Seth's videos when I was just thinking about getting started.
Seriously excellent job Seth. Keep making awesome videos. -
When are you going to upload the next video (of this series)?

Why do nearly all girls sit when they ride ? , I can't and don't sit down ever , it's so unnatural when riding aggressive.

I've never written a mtb, but this video has made me real interested in learning more about this style of riding. I roadbike all the time and love it, but it would be fun to try a different style of cycling. Thanks for posting this video.

so Seth, I just got my first mountain bike but I live in Idaho where there is way more advanced trails than simple trails. do you recommend that I practice on street. or push my self to the limit on the sketchy downhill near where I live? That's so much for making awesome smooth content that got me hooked into mountain biking in the first place! Keep it up

I think Lisa is doing a phenomenal job getting acquainted with the bike, the trails, and gaining confidence in her skills as she progresses. However, this is the first time we have heard say her say a word. Is she British?
