Brilliant video!

This was the best video on removing a Brompton rear wheel on the web until Brompton released their own technical videos: https://brompton.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203295751-Technical-videos . Here is where I first learnt how to remove and refit a Brompton rear wheel.

Removing rear wheel easy on brompton, do it with bike in parked position and let air out of the tyre, then no need to do anything with brakes. I have had my brompton 7 years, been totally reliable, only last week had to replace 1 rear sprocket, and only had 1 punture (kevlar tyres). So all in all a pleased brompton owner.

Very helpful.
-
in my bike group sharing, we usually deflate the tire for easy removal. Brake pad may be a little more hassle.
-
Loosening the brake pads is silly. MUCH easier to back off brake cable adjuster or loosen cable, and a lot easier to readjust when done. Bromptons remind me of old British cars, so finicky and funky you're happy when they work. Unlike Shimano where you expect perfection.
-
Helpful. Thanks!
-
Just loosen the brake cable. Way easier to adjust the cable than align the shoes. How very British of them to make maintenance a PITA
-
Thanks that makes it look quite simple. I had a rear puncture today and got my local bike shop to fix it but I don't think they got all the debris out as it went flat again so looks like I'll have to fix it myself. Probably best I learn how to do it in case I get a flat miles away from a bike shop!
-
much obliged to you sir
-
Omg, don't you have a cleaner place to fix this?
-
Good answer.
-
What about putting it back on again and inflating afterwards? ;-)
-
What about putting it back on again when it's inflated?
-
I just let the air out of the tire, back off brake adjustment and leave the damn brakes alone.
-
Thanks for the vid. I'm trying to decide between a 2 and a 3 speed. Would this process be any simpler with a M2L?
-
This is not mine, it's my friend Charles. He used to work in the factory. He's had it over 12 years and it's still working. I had mine for seven and likewise. They are like old Mercedes. Bulletproof.
-
Nice Vid, but instead of taking the brake pad out or loosening the cable I just deflate the tire. It then fits neatly between the brake pads. Saves you the hassle of adjusting the brake pads/cable tension again....
-
Thanks! - You made it look so easy compared to the manual. I ended up doing it your way and got the wheel off in a few seconds. Although I did spend the following hour adjusting the rear caliper brakes!.. lol...

This video taught me to never have a rear puncture on a Brompton! :)
